Turn it off then.
Should be opt-in, it’s a dumb feature nobody asked for.
Yeah, I don’t care for this feature but I’m not going to get wound up by something that I can switch off in about three presses.
I like it.

u just know some googler got promoted to management with this dogshit idea
edit: That’s how it works @google yall. Engineers craft some cool feature and get whisked away after and leave the project/feature abandoned
It’s so distracting that I didn’t notice it before this post made me go look for it.
I’ve been watching YouTube all day on my Android phone and I do kinda subconsciously recall seeing some sorta glow. Now I’m going to go look for it consciously.
update: okay I went and looked, and it is subtle and it is intermittent. The glow is there one moment, then it’s not there the next moment, it comes and goes.
Maybe the article mentioned that, I dunno, I only read half of the article before I didn’t feel like reading it anymore.
I don’t mind it. Removing the dislike button was more on an issue for me
When it was first rolled out I thought there was an issue with my graphics card drivers, but I honestly really like it now
I actually kinda like ambient mode when watching on my phone
I also like it. I find it immersive instead of distracting.
It drains the battery though.
The irony of complaining about distracting features that nobody asked for in an article on a site that pops up a video player over the text…
