That’s it! Christmas is canceled!
Jfc even with uBlock Origin, that site is unusable. It won’t let me scroll, pinch to zoom, or do anything. Even archiving the page results in the popover. One of the worst offenders I’ve ever seen.
For anyone who has this same problem: Firefox’s reader mode works, and you can even pinch to zoom if you have impaired vision like I do. I’d like to support sites that support queer culture, but in this case I’m utterly disgusted by the site’s data harvesting and ableist design.
My sincere apologies, I didn’t realize! 😬
I’m using Consent-o-Matic to take care of cookies and always use reader mode for articles, so I didn’t notice…
I had no problem using the link, I don’t think it’s anything you did. I could zoom and scroll and never got asked to sign up for anything and there were no cookie notifications. Thank you for your link and the extra effort you go through before you posted it.
In this case, the problem isn’t cookies, but the popover requiring you to enter your email address or register for an account to continue.
Besides using reader mode, one could also apply custom filters in uBO.
Consent-o-Matic took care of that for me as well. Can’t recommend it too much tbh!
Doesn’t it sometimes default to accepting cookies if there’s no clear option to reject them? I thought I recalled people discussing that on r/privacy
It always defaults to accepting them and then immediately deleting them securely before they do anything. That way the page will think you’ve got them and stops asking but you still don’t get them.
Oh, that’s really clever! I’ll add it to my collection.
uBlock Origin set to medium mode solves that problem. No popup for me at all.
I have all of those settings and lists enabled, including those rules added to my rules. I still got the popover. So apparently it doesn’t solve the problem for all of us.
Guess I should report that.
Then it’s because I’m using Mull. That must be what’s blocking the pop-ups for me.
Could be. I’m using Fennec, which iirc is not quite as hardened as Mull, though I can’t recall the specifics.
Try Consent-o-Matic, I’m using it in combination with uBlock Origin and didn’t get anything.
you don’t know how good it smells
That’s objectively true since I don’t have one and also haven’t smelled one belonging to someone else 🤷
