I’ve only bought and sold a little 40k stuff on eBay. I know there is a market for Rogue Trader era stuff, but I wouldn’t expect to get rich off it.
The aesthetic from that era is lovingly referred to as “Oldhammer”. Try running an eBay search like “40k Oldhammer Ork” to see what people think these things are worth.
Quick rundown of important terms:
- 40k - the game “Warhammer 40k”. Essentially Warhammer Fantasy Battles in the far future (the year 40,000).
- Rogue Trader - confusingly, the very first edition of Warhammer 40k was called “Rogue Trader”. Your figures are from this period.
- Ork - Futuristic counterpart to the classic fantasy orc. That “k” handily makes the name both futuristic and trademarkable. It’s also an important distinction, as what you have are “orks”, not “orcs”.
Sorry to keep replying, but I’ve just realised something. Those receipts represent a very specific time in British history.
The fact that the phone number begins 0773 but the fax number begins 01773 shows that this dates from around when the renumbering was taking place.
Way back when the receipt was written, area codes (the first few digits) could be numbered anything, as long as it started with “0”.
However, in the 90s, the shift towards all area codes beginning with “01” had started. In April 1995, any remaining numbers that were still “0” were changed to “01” overnight. So this receipt dates from when the shift had started but not finished.
Not helpful in terms of identifying the Orks, but hopefully a little interesting!
