I stopped watching when they moved to AppleTv. It helps that it coincided with the worst regulation set we’ve seen in years

There’s gotta be like 0 chance for that. NASCAR/INDYCAR barely want to race in Mexico
Unfortunately some of us need windows for more than games, and there aren’t Linux alternatives

Formula 1•Verstappen set to trigger contract clause keeping him at Red Bull for F1 2026
6·1 year agoPeople love to speculate about max leaving, but there’s nowhere to go. McLaren aren’t dropping one of their drivers, Ferrari is a mess, Mercedes isn’t fast enough and nobody else has cracked the top 4.
At the very minimum he’s got to see who nails the 26 regs before making a decision

Formula 1•Domenicali defends F1's Monaco GP tyre change rule after drivers' criticism
7·1 year agoI appreciate they tried something new, but the race was once again awful. There’s no fixing Monaco. It’s a qualifying weekend only and the race just feels like a formality.
At this point just make it a qualifying only weekend. Run two sessions, make the points average or something. Just don’t make us watch 72 laps of absolutely nothing

Mildly Infuriating•Canon requires an account to transfer images from your camera. Forces you to sign up using Chrome.English

Photos like these aren’t going to be possible on a phone camera. There’s still a lot of physical limitations to phones, namely low light and high aperture glass. Due to space constraints you’re extremely limited with sensor and glass size, which is where professional cameras still blow phones out of the water.
If all you’re doing is taking selfies and pictures of things you see around you then a phone is fine, but once you’re beyond that, it’s much more efficient to go to a dedicated camera.

2·1 year agoThey’re not being transmitted to canon before downloading. The camera starts a (slow) local WiFi network that the phone can connect to and it directly transfers that way. This means you still get full quality RAW files

Pretty much across the board the Stake/Sauber liveries have been awful. Stands out, but not really in a good way
Most journalism is a joke nowadays. Print/text media makes no money, so it’s all clickbait to drive engagement and clicks for ad revenue. It’s a problem with every other sport too as far as I can see.

Gaming•My primary use of portable consoles has been lounging around the house.English
4·2 years agoI bought a switch. Then I almost never used it, since if I’m gaming I’m at my PC.
I’ll likely never buy another portable console simply for the fact that I don’t have a use for it. Many do, I’m just not one of them
Developer here
Had to spend 3 weeks fixing a tiny app that a vibe coder built with AI. It required rewriting significant portions of the app from the ground up because AI code is nearly unusable at scale. Debugging is 10x harder, code is undocumented and there is no institutional knowledge of how an internal system works.
AI code can maybe be ok for a bootstrap single programmer project, but is pretty much useless for real enterprise level development
I’m 100% with you on this. There isn’t a single thing that generative AI can do better than a traditional method or by myself.
AI code is pretty much useless, as you spend 2-4x the time debugging and fixing the code as you would have writing it from the ground up.
AI Search is useless because it regularly and predictably gives bad and/or incorrect results. A well built traditional search engine is so much better, but have disappeared with Microsoft and Google going all in on AI search.
AI art isn’t art, and I would never support anyone who uses it, let alone makes money from it. It fundamentally is missing three of the core pillars of art, which are creativity, uniqueness and the human experience.
AI chat bots are ruining human connection and consistently perform worse than human support reps.

I need Adobe, specifically Lightroom, because there’s no alternative. I can’t just stop using it as a semi-professional photographer (I make money from it, just not a ton).
Darktable doesn’t handle large libraries well and also is missing features such as AI remove and integration with photoshop for splitting photos up for social media posts.
They decided to use the Cadillac brand as their racing brand, so they also run their GTP/LMDh (Le mans/IMSA/Endurance racing) cars as Cadillacs.
They’ve also got corvettes in the GT3/GTD categories

I paid $85, I refuse to pay more than $85. I don’t want F1TV Premium or anything on AppleTV.
