  • I did talk to them about the safety plan for my child. And I spoke to my child. One thing that was really helpful was having a supportive team of people at the school who understood my child’s circumstances and needs. They were incredibly supportive and helped us find the support we needed outside of school. Kid is doing great now.

While you may not like it, supporting all students is the expectation of a teacher. I’m sorry the parents are shitty to you, but a lot of that comes from having to deal with shitty teachers over and over again. You get to choose if you want to make things better or worse for your students.

I hope you get the help that you need (all care givers of kids like this need therapy, it really helps) and can think about if you want to keep helping. Otherwise, you’re the problem here, not the kids who need help.

  • Probably not the beans then. Black beans usually aren’t the primary concern and you definitely cooked them long enough.

The other comment provides a good resource for the particular issue I was thinking of, so you can probably look at the other sources, and you’re right to question the raw Pico.

  • Toxic substances (ones that make you sick) are not food. Unless you are an assassin or a masochist, you are not wasting anything by throwing toxins away.

That said, did you cook the beans long enough? Some beans can create what feels like food poisoning if they are not cooked long enough.

I wasn’t talking about the angle of the polarization. I was referring to the angle, between the display and lens angle of polarization. Yes, they need to be perpendicular.

Polarized sunglasses are readily available from many brands, even the cheap $10 ones can be polarized sometimes. An easy way to check: hold them in front of your phone’s screen, looking through the glasses rotate the phone from portrait to landscape (using your hand, not the settings, might have to rotate through 180 degrees, not just 90). If the brightness changes, then the glasses are polarized. This works because the light from a phone screen is also polarized. The lenses in the glasses may have different polarization orientations, so they might not go dark at the same time. That’s OK, they will still work as polarized glasses.
