As long as it doesn’t hold you back in your real work you can just keep tweaking because it is fun. Just see it as a hobby where you learn things and potentially improve your workflow for other tasks.

Quite a good shave, pretty smooth, almost no blood and low irritation. I refreshed the Koraat edge as the scratch pattern didn’t look so good. It is much better now but I can still push it a bit I think. The edge survived quite well today. I think I managed a better shaving angle especially under the chin (I went a bit steep there before). Every shave there is something learn or to pay extra attention to.

They just put all the characters in one class. Otae is only 18 I believe so not that much older. Compared to dudes like Madao and Kondo. Also Zura is very close to Gin’s age (as seen in the flashbacks in the main series) so he is the same age as the teacher. And god knows how old Eli is! Don’t think to hard about it lol

Thanks for the big write up! The first point sounds so logical so it’s surprising that I did manage a smooth shave out of the Koraat with its much thicker bevel. I’ll try to go without tape in the future or at least try reducing it to a single layer and see how that goes again.

For the second point, I’ll take your suggestion and pay more attention to the shaving angle!

The money is a bit tight so I’ll have to figure it out on my own I’m afraid. That is also why it is good to hear that my progression is fine. I watched that JPO video where he goes over weakness in the steel from making large jumps in grit so I was afraid I needed something in between 3k and 8k. I’ll just practice some more.

Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. With 0.85 I mean the Shapton Glass Seven 0.85 micron stone. The 8k is about 1.8 micron and their 16k is 0.92 micron so this one would be 16k+ rated. But they don’t rate their “seven” stones with a K number.

I bought the cheapest soap and brush. It’s fine. I had a bad shave today though. There was a lot of irritation and blood spots. I didn’t chase the super close shave to save my face. I had bought new stones and honed and it looked good: all scratches went out each step and it did the hanging hair test. Still my edge gets ruined extremely quickly in the shave. I already use two layers of tape to make it stronger and the steel is fresh. I thought my edge broke down because of my bad lower grit stones didn’t set the bevel correctly. So I bought the shapton glass 3k but it didn’t help enough. I also honed my Koraat the same way and then used my mystery natural stone but it didn’t turn out well: still big scratches left, didn’t do the hanging hair test at all and felt not keen to my finger skin. But when I shaved with it, while lacking sharpness it was smooth and my skin was fine and I didn’t have any blood at all… So I am very confused!

Glad to hear! I thought it was quite well known but clearly I’m in a bit of bubble when it comes to anime.

I wouldn’t really call Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight comfy compared to other CGDCT anime, but it is very underrated indeed. It has some strong moments when the iyashikei really hits like when Mikan and Mei are on the roof.

Even though you are joking, cults are a danger when creating new religion-like movements. Also I would call myself an agnostic. I simply do not know, and do not care whether there is a god, no god, multiple gods, whether we live in a simulation or if I am a brain in a vat. I simply live according to what the universe around me seems to be to the best of my ability.

I don’t agree that some sort of religion is needed for meaning in life, but I certainly don’t think all the down votes are warranted.

For me, neither the existence of at least one god or the non existence of any gods has any impact on how I see the world and myself. You give this example of a man you respect and how he lived his life. If you were to live like him, but not quite belief in god, would that be meaningful to you? Or wouldn’t it?

At times I have been thinking about if one can make a religion without any belief in higher powers. Something a bit more complete than just a theory of ethics, also including some kind of rituals, habits, exemplary people, community and other things that are in decline alongside religion.

Almost all anime I really like are super stereotypical comfy anime, picking one is very difficult. The most underrated is Hidamari Sketch in my opinion. ARIA is also extremely strong. Non Non Biyori is a classic. For a lesser known one I put forward Tanaka wa Itsumo Kedaruge. Apart from that most good CGDCT anime have a strong Iyashikei component to them are very comfy. Classics are Lucky Star, K-ON!, Azumanga Daioh and Ichigo Mashimaro. For more modern takes on this type of anime the newer Kirara anime such as Kiniro Mozaiku, Gochuumon wa Usagi desuka and Yuyushiki are popular under “comfy bros”.

If only Kiniro Mozaiku had as many seasons as Jojos… I’m slightly biased since I mod [email protected]
