Have to agree with you. While I’m not the biggest fan of Nexus Mods, I do think they’ve improved the modding scene overall. Before Moddb or Nexusmods, it was a total crapshoot whether you were downloading a mod or a virus, and if it was a mod then there was no guarantee that it’d actually work. And at least from my personal experience I’ve been able to do whatever I wanted with only the trouble of creating an account and logging in (which sucks I won’t lie).
That said, I really hope they stick to their announcement and use it to actually make versioning integrate with their mods rather than use this as a cash grab to enshittify.
Will say I deleted all my comments and logged out of reddit as a protest, though I still browsed old.reddit.com up till they started forcing logins a month or so ago.
Only moved over to Lemmy after that.

2·1 month agoDo appreciate the two links provided, definitely the most definitive info about vaping being bad that I’ve seen.
First study I will absolutely be watching to see what comes out of future studies (but not looking good for vaping there).
Second one I have been visting my dentist so not too worried.
And yeah, klnow about the danngers of unregulated chemicals, would absolutely love if they started regulating it better (was around for the original diactyl scare, as well as some early problems with nicotine suppliers not being accurate in their mg/ml counts). But haven’t really seen anything that makes sense yet (most of the regulations I’ve seen just pushed people towards disposables and whatnot which seem farm less healthy from what I heard).
And in regards to the reason I was asking (and mentioned england) is actually from significantly older studies like https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/e-cigarettes-an-evidence-update. Haven’t actually looked at anything recently (which is why I asked).

4·1 month agoabsolutely at least to start. But I was coming off a pack a day of cigarettes habit that I picked up when I was 13 or 14, and on top of that I also quit drinking about the same time (partially because it was too difficult to drink and not smoke after years of combining the two).
That said once I got everything set up it’s incredibly easy to maintain. I now just buy a couple gallons of base every few years, and maybe once a month spend around 20-30 minutes mixing 3 batches of ejuice (different flavors). Maybe changing cotton once a month (at most 5 minutes), and changing coils once a year or two).

2·1 month agoThanks very much, definitely looking throuigh those now (though I will disregard the first link, at least as far as I know the only studies that have shown formaldehyde or heavy metals have been from the scientists holding down the fire button nonstop for seconds on end and basically lighting the cotton on fire).
As for the costs, below are all the costs I can think of. Looks like I was a little off, closer to around $120 a year.
- Base: I buy 4 gallons at a time of PG/VG mix (smply brand), used to be $100 and would last 2-3 years, so looking at lets say $50 a year for that.
- Nicotine: used to buy giant bottles where it was $100 for I want to say 2 liters of 100ml/mg of nicotine. Bought it 4-5 years ago, didn’t even go through half. So lets say $5-10 a year (though likely gone up since I was buying it as they were adding regulations). Currently $0 but figure might as well include it.
- Flavoring - really can’t give any good counts here, when I priced it it was about the same price as nicotine, but haven’t bought any in nearly 8 years now. Don’t use much and bought liter bottles of candy flavor instead of pre-mix). Guessing $10 a year at most.
- Mods - Bought 2x VANDY VAPE GAUR-21 for $45 each back on 8/9/2022, still on my first one, so maybe $10 a year for equipment costs
- Wire: bought a large coil for like $20 maybe 10 years ago, still on it, so maybe $1-$2 a year at most.
- Cotton: likewise bought a large amount a few years ago, haven’t finished it so maybe $1-2 a year. mine was unbleached japanese cotton (not sure what difference it made but yeah, don’t go through much so went with what was the style at the time).
- Batteries: Every 2-3 years I buy a new set of 26500 batteries, so maybe $30 a year on that.

1·1 month agoNot to start an argument, but do you have any sources for where vaping is actively bad for you? Curious if I should be changing my habits despite not noticing any negative effects myself.
I haven’t done any research in the last 3-4 years at least, but last time I checked the most reputable meta study I found was from Public Health England stating that vaping was about 90-95% safer than smoking cigarettes, and haven’t been able to find anything to dispute that.
That said I am also from the era where vaping meant buying nicotine suspended in PG, adding candy flavorings to it, and then mixing in more PG/VG. Have heard the new vape salts and some other stuff they’ve done is at least far more addictive, and haven’t seen any studies done on those.
And for the record I’ve been vaping since around 2013, currently mix my own juice (dropped down to 0 nic recently but till then was hovering around 3-5%), and my overall costs are somewhere in the veins of $100 a year total and consist of gallons of PG/VG mix (yay amazon), battery replacements, wire, cotton, and I’m still using some old flavoring I bought at least 5 years ago. Haven’t had to change my mod in about 2 years, and if it does break I have an extra copy of it new in box.
Do understand, appreciate the response and suggestions will have to give them a try. Have a great day.
That looks incredible for a gluten free bread.
If at all possible I’d love to get the recipe (and guessing the starter was made just by leaving rice flour+water out to pick up whatever local bacteria there are).
My sister has celiacs so I always feel horrible for her whenever she visits cause it’s incredibly tough to find any truly gluten free restaurants within 60 miles of where I live.

3·2 months agoCan’t remember if it was Urusei Yatsura or Ranma 1/2 but loved both series as a kid (had a friend who had a mail order catalog where he could get the VHS).
As for the first I personally choose (rather than getting second hand from a friend), it was either 3x3 eyes or flame of recca (no longer remember which came first).

API gate started it for me. Logged out of my account, never logged back in (refused to contribute to reddit after that), stayed on reddit a few months longer using old.reddit.com, but once they rolled out the forced sign on just to use that it was a straw too far.
