  • You don’t think people aren’t trying to unionize? Decades of anti-Union sentiment, “right to work” laws, fear of punishment for taking about pay (even though it’s protected by the NLRB), etc. are at odds with it. Shit, slavery is still legal under the 13th amendment, the very same amendment that abolished it, thanks to a loophole. California tried to abolish prison slavery, and it failed.

    Unionizing in the US isn’t as simple as “let’s do it”. There are hurdles, and psychological traps, as well as tricks that employers can use to fire you to get around the law.

    Even if you think you have a case, getting the resources to fight in court will be prohibitive. And any kind of measurable settlement to help embolden unionizing nationwide will be almost non-existent.

    I’m not saying it’s not a battle to avoid, but it’s a Sisyphusian effort.
