  • I don’t think such a cynical view of laws applies to all laws in Europe GDPR genuinely improved the privacy of people living in the EU.

I guess if you’re dystopian enough you could claim that labor compromise laws (such as the laws requiring worker representative on company boards) protect billionaires because the prevent the glorious revolution™, but the lack of such a revolution in the US suggests that giving workers democratic input into the companies they work for is simply a good law and not in the interest of billionaires.

  • I dislike how disenting opinions get downvoted on Lemmy/technology probably more than even on reddit.

Everything you said is factually correct.

I disagree that it means they should be banned but they take money from corporations to produce slopaganda, that’s just true, and even beyond that their videos are well animated but the moment they touch a subject you actually know about you realize they are just internet researched videos that go a little more in depth that reading the Wikipedia page but it doesn’t seem they actually understand what they are talking about, which is fine except that’s not what they present themselves as (same with CPG Greg)

  • They’re losing money, like cloud I doubt having OpenSource code would have much of an impact on the average consumer (maybe if they fully opened they weights it would have an impact but even then, they could delay the release a few months/versions and keep like 99% of the paid customers) being closed is more about stock valuation, they have to pretend to have a bunch of secret sauce/source that is worth infinity dollars.
