I grew up with coffee constantly being consumed all hours of the day, and my family always drank a lighter roast, which I find almost impossible to find anywhere, it seems everyone wants a dark or medium roast, when I got into making coffee properly at home I bought dark an med, and was surprised I hated it. eventual figured out light roast was what I was looking for. to me is just coffee, that’s what coffee always was. I was born in the 80s in a Latin American home so I don’t know how much that has to do with it but it could be a factor. I get the concept of wanting more intense flavors and I love chocolate and any chocolate flavor added to coffee I also love, and I love wines with that dark chocolate note, but I just want that familial taste in coffee.

it’s really easy to make 60% of your population commit a felony. you just continue to pass laws with the assumption that draconian punishments deter crime. and you keep making lesser and lesser crimes felonies, and punishments harsher, and you can have judges who just want to funnel people into prison to fund their own personal investments. it also helps to have corrupt cops that want to make those felony collars to get promotions and raises. cops literally train each other to escalate things to felonies or find felony charges where clearly none should exist like calling a box cutter a ‘gravity knife’ and charging a felony and if that person isn’t hiring a quality lawyer the public defender with 600 cases says ‘you have 15 min of my time for this case, I glanced at it, I recommend you take a plea deal, our time is up, what’s your decision?’

learning about how being politically nuteral is impossible in an extremist environment. sitting on the fence just means you support the outcome of ‘might make right’ extremists.

they won’t let you stay in the middle forever. it’s not a safe pick they’re trying to push everyone off the fence all the time it’s a key element of extremism.

Americans are INSANE about how much the want criminals punished, in CA a guy got a life sentence for stealing a pizza when we tried to have a ‘‘three strikes your out’’ law that automatically gave life sentences at any third conviction which is fucking crazy in a state with tack on laws to the point you can get convicted of 10+ crimes on almost every single infraction, if you commit a felony with a pen or pencil in your pocket, that’s possession of a lethal weapon! it’s absurd. it’s still on the books the three strikes law, but it’s unenforceable because apparently having 60% of your population in prison for life is not a great plan for a civilization.

it would be great if you could answer the question. Are you saying Dog whistles don’t exist? are you claiming the Republican party hasn’t been using dog whistles since the southern strategy of Nixon’s third presidential campaign?

so you want people to use the slur? because people recognizing saying it is awful is bad…? it’s not a crusade, people get it’s bad and don’t want to hear it. and yeah one word isn’t the issue, as an adult, when you start getting corrected on the one word, you kind of have to be smart enough to see the actual problem and stop with all the other words as well. I don’t think it’s a coordinated attempt to destroy all decency if we allow people to be upset about a slur.

imagine it’s you. imagine you have to hear it all the time. imagine it’s your loved one, or nearly everyone you work with professionally, and you have to deal with it. then imagine that for decades. are you exhausted yet? it gets very old and when the traction finally kicks in and people start going ‘‘OK let’s move away from this’’ and you pop up going ‘why can’t we just KEEP being awful! It doesn’t hurt MY feelings!!! So who cares!’’

yeah it’s not a great idea, I’ve been seeing a crap ton of AI ads for relatively bland services online, like insurance and weight loss, some known brands mixed in, and I keep thinking, what does this benifit the company other than not paying someone more than the AI to make an ad, and I feel it mostly just let’s less legitimate business look more sleek, but the bounce back from that is going to be people associating AI ads with garbage and scam businesses, which is plush the bigger corporations away from it. Anyway, yeah it’s all to try and get the user of the AI service to look more polished in intent.

I’m sorry do we have medieval Italian political satirists on the table for basic conversion? the crazy thing is, I’ve read books by all the individuals mentioned, and most of it is very old, and very specific to it’s time, and largely entertainment. this is like someone 500 years from now saying they can’t hold a conversation with someone if they don’t have a deep familiaity with the deeper meanings of The Simpsons and Family Guy and how they impacted society.
