  • Well said. I just want to tack on something similar I’ve noticed in talking about this kind of stuff with everyday people: none of us are individually powerful enough to make any significant change and thinking about it becomes too depressing, so most people tend to retreat into themselves and their immediate lives, choosing instead to only focus on what they themselves can do, often by through nostalgic daydreams/escaping back into a time when they didn’t have to think about such things (because they weren’t aware of its existence yet).

Not only does this obviously contribute nothing to stopping the problem, but it just encourages even more individualistic thinking, which leads to more selfish behaviors and so on and so on. Humanity’s greatest achievements have only been possible through working together with one another, but that seems to be getting more and more impossible with each passing day. The elites have always been bastards, ever since society began, but the masses were (for the most part) willing to work together when needed. Now? Nobody trusts strangers anymore, we’re all tied to our phones in our own personalized echo chambers (I say, perfectly aware of the irony as I type this on my own cell phone, alone in my room), and the elites have stopped even pretending to care what the rest of the world thinks about their unbridled avarice.

In my opinion, we’re completely fucked, and we have been for a long time. MAYBE at some point in the last 100-odd years there might have been a way to stop this from occuring, but with the current way Systems are in place to maintain the status quo and reach for maximum profits at all costs, there’s simply nothing we can do short of a planet-wide overthrow of everything that the last few centuries have been building/reinforcing. Capitalism has murdered our planet and now, as it feasts upon the carcass, we are just left to sit and watch, powerless, idly passing the time until it is our turn to rot away with it

  • 1-Yeah, I was debating putting an asterisk there at the end to say ‘except the literal prepubescent child’ but I was already starting to ramble and I had some errands to run so I just left it as was. Also you’d probably have some trouble finding someone who thought that kid’s dad was attractive (for several reasons) but regardless, THE VAST MAJORITY of characters have at least one moment where you can’t help but gaze, awestruck at their beauty.

2-Oh they absolutely knew what they were doing with that dog and his hoodie 😂

3-Here’s what the mad doctor (actually the MC’s dad) looked like before he disguised himself and went into hiding:

  • I do though… Doesn’t mean I have to be happy about the fact that portion sizes are shrinking, the cost per sandwich is growing, and the contents of my paychecks remain… let’s call it “aggressively stagnant”. Still, I’d rather spend 5 minutes and $10 on food that’s ready right now as opposed to several hours buying, prepping, cooking, cleaning, etc for myself in most situations.

Edit: I just realized you’re not the guy I first replied to, buuut I think I’ll keep my comment as-is

  • Dude, that job pays THREE TIMES as well as the equally-dead one I currently have (even more if you include benefits). Just accept the good fortune bestowed upon you, get paid to do practically nothing, and find a new hobby to invest all your new free time into. Like, how is this even a question?

Edit: I redid the math and turns out you’re making 3x what I do, not the 2x that I originally said

  • I wanna throw Kill la Kill’s hat into that ring. Does it deserve the TOP spot? No, but I like the origin story of where the power comes from.

Aliens come to Earth looking for food back in prehistoric times, if they go about it the usual way (feeding directly off the energy/electricity of a living brain) then the body usually dies very quickly BUT, if they feed off this energy from the outside via skin-to-skin contact then they have a host that lasts longer than 5 minutes. So they choose the most advanced species (us) and after setting up some intentionally-vague groundwork, they go into hibernation until humanity has progressed far enough for a worldwide monopoly on clothing to become a reality, even converting several humans to work with them directly.

Practically all the power in the show comes from/through the school uniforms which have various amounts of these silent, patient, alien beings as part of their fabric. Only real exception is the power of friendship but this is anime we’re talking about, that’s always going to win. Speaking of winning, the main villain of this show should’ve won like 3-4 times over by the time it’s all said and done. Oh well, “La Vie est Drôle” after all

Edit: Also some other little nuances that they manage to throw in: a reference to the “original sin” with Adam and Eve covering themselves; the age-old adage “It’s not the clothes that make the man, but the man that makes the clothes” only in this case both are correct; or even how the more powerful uniforms need to show increasingly more skin i.e. reduce the surface area of the ‘vampiric’ clothes otherwise the host would pass out or die. Idk, there’s a lot you could discuss about this show beyond “all the characters are hot” but nobody ever really does

  • Nah it’s a real word, though usually confined to Philosophy and Literature classes where it belongs. It’s usually used as a description/judgment of “how true” something is or “how similar to the truth”, often in relation to some other thing. For example, obviously Breaking Bad is a fictional show and not a documentary or anything but through things like the use of real locations, actual chemistry, believable characters, etc, it has such versimilitude as to appear real
