I think the truth is that it assuming it’s the latter may not be enough. But the first two are even less likely. Additional responsibilities WITHOUT a raise is very, very unlikely to be what anyone was waiting for to stick around.

TurboFoolto Sync for Lemmy•Is it just me or did Lemmy suddenly became more active now that Sync for Lemmy is released?English7·2 years agoSync is honestly the only thing that made me aware of Lemmy. I signed up a few days ago, and heard about it weeks ago, but today I can start using it more actively.
I’m hoping this can stick. I’m also experimenting with turning on visibility of vote counts. I find myself too toxically impacted by a stupid number on my posts and comments that I think impacts my sense of self.
I’m at 12 years. I haven’t fully quit Reddit, per se, particularly as there are official support communities there that are nowhere else. But I’m trying to minimize my use and shift toward something, hopefully this, that better represents the open and decentralized approach I want to see. One company dictating exactly how I access my data is a problem for me.
Because what people want is often very, very stupid. And also because the difference between “you” and a malicious app acting like you is non-existent. If you can easily change vital files, so can any drive-by app you accidentally run.
