I never said “be nice and don’t judge.” I’m saying to judge the individual, not their family history.

I don’t think we should treat people differently based on who their ancestors were or what they believed; that’s the difference between right and left.

This is a perfect encapsulation of reactionary ideology: they see conservative identity as paramount. Many of those people’s ancestors fought to get out of the United States, but he counts them as more American because of their conservative identity.

Reactionaries genuinely believe that they should get more rights simply because of who they are. They are fighting for a highly regimented society where you get better treatment from the government based on how conservative you are.

Crazy how it used to be normal (and still is in many places) to be violent only towards the most vulnerable people.

This video is a very good view into the values of the right: they’re not hypocritical at all. They genuinely believe that they have the right to rule based on who they are.

They are not conflicted about this at all; they believe that bad things happen because the wrong people are in charge. That’s what they actually mean by criticizing things like DEI: the wrong people have been installed in the halls of power, and they seek to “correct” it.

There is no cognitive dissonance to solve for, because they do think that they should be treated special based on who they are. They sometimes co-opt the language of the left, but they don’t believe it; it’s merely a way to communicate to the unwashed masses that their concerns are being heard.
