As mentioned above, there are workarounds to run the client on Linux, but rewriting the app to create a native version is just too much effort for two hobby devs. I wish I had designed it that way from the beginning, but it simply grew from a two-user app with the tools we had to a 5,000-user app, and now here we are.

No native one but it is possible to run the client on linux via wine.

The subscription primarily serves as a way to support our continued efforts in developing, maintaining, and improving the application. It enables us to keep the core functionality free and accessible to all users, while ensuring that our work remains sustainable in the long run.

Think of it more like paying for Patreon and getting goodies as a return rather than paying for Netflix. It’s less about purchasing a product and more about backing our ongoing efforts.

Just about everything you charge for is just leveraging some service or tool someone else already made for free.

DLC, MOD and Patch file support is on the roadmap until then it’s a solution to just put them into one tar archive or whatever.

Regarding the metadata not being found, it can happen in rare cases, you can simply enter the igdb ID into the remap search bar and that will do the trick, no need to edit files on your server or whatever.

Lastly the Microsoft store is only one of our multiple distribution channels, we also share precompiled executables on GitHub releases. It says it’s unrecommended but don’t worry about it. Check out the client docs for all ways to install the client.
