We have an 11 year old rescue pup from Puerto Rico, he’s a really good boy. They kind of have their own breed going on on the island. We DNA tested him and he’s about 1/3 Chihuahua, 1/3 “super mut”, and then like small portions of a dozen other breeds. He loves laying outside all day on the hottest days of the year.

Arizona and New Mexico were the last continental US states to receive statehood, both in 1912. World War 1 started in 1914 and the US joined the war in 1917. The war captured a lot of the attention of both politicians and everyday people, in large part because 5 million Americans directly joined the war effort, or close to 5% of the population. There were still territorial interests at play, but more about the strategic and resource value of the territories for war readiness vs settling them with Americans of European ancestry.

They often partner with local news organizations to help give them good content and there’s never a paywall either.

See if there is some place in your community that could use a volunteer. Research studies consistently find that volunteering with charities makes people feel happier. There’s plenty of needs out there. One that might not be well known are Weed Warrior groups that work on removing invasive plants to make more room for natives. I find that kind of work really satisfying because there’s an obvious visual of progress and success.

This is why. Republicans in Congress are planning to take “at least” $880 Billion over ten years out of Medicare and Medicaid to pay for extending tax cuts for the wealthy. There are also ads in the opposite direction raising alarm about this. They say they’ll make the cuts without reducing benefits, and by that they generally mean they’re going to pay doctors even less for caring for those patients.
