politics •Trump rages at Biden for wrecking his plans for executions: ‘Makes no sense’
2·11 months agoPutting aside some of the practical issues for a moment…
- that legal process makes executions more expensive than a life sentenc
- it’s a tremendous power for governments to have and rife for corruption or making permanent mistakes.
Why should society be obligated to suppord, and securely house people who should never be allowed back into society?
Former Seattle city council member actually wants to see Harris lose to trump. It’s wild: https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/at-seattle-rally-sawant-says-harris-deserves-to-lose-1000-times/

News•US police use force on 300,000 people a year, with numbers rising since George Floyd: ‘relentless violence’
1·1 year agoRight, it’s not a good representation of crime, because the number of reports are always higher than the number of cleared cases, hence the term clearance rate, which by the way is highest for crimes against persons(murder, rape, and manslaughter) despite the earlier claim that “police only protect capital”.
Good thing there is a process to validate the arrests.

1·1 year agoOf course they can’t do anything about a crime that hasn’t been committed. Do you want police to follow people around to prevent crimes or arrest people they suspect will commit a crime.
As soon as they witness a crime they act. If you expect more than that you are looking for a police state.

1·1 year agoNot entirely true. Cops are fired, penalized, and held legally accountable quite often. Not frequently enough but you’re stating that they are immune.
Qualified immunity protects state and local officials, including law enforcement officers, from individual liability unless the official violated a clearly established constitutional right.
Every few years I start getting emulators setup but then give up. Wanted to setup on Raspberry pie, Nvidia shield, and now maybe steam deck is next.

22·1 year ago“Media Bias/Fact Check (MBFC News) adheres to the International Fact-Checking Network Fact-checkers’ Code of Principles. The Poynter Institute developed these principles to promote excellence and standardization in Fact-Checking.”
Seems like they are on board with those principals. Also, explain how it’s partisan please.
It takes some getting used to. And maybe looping games isn’t everyone’s cup of tea(e.g. Majora’s mask).
But the exploration, the knowlesge based progression, the cleverness of the story, and its delivery is absolutely brilliant.

31·1 year agoShould have rambo’d the shooter from the ladder like a true patriot to save that rapist felon. If you think about it, the cop probably actually did save him because the shooter had to rush to take the shot immediately after and didn’t have time to aim properly.
People who spend 8 hours a day or more commenting on Lemmy shouldn’t be moderators. I think they have an unhealthy perspective on life and it shows.
