Maybe cause there are so relatively few sources from that time period. Almost like it was shrouded in something. Some kinda absence of light or something.

1·25 minutes agoIn immigration court? Those are not judicial. They are executive. Why should they have jurisdiction over first amendment issued?

World News•US attacks deepen hardship, not dissent, in Iran's restive southEnglish
1·9 hours agoEven Japan isn’t a great example. The fire bombings destroyed way more cities and slaughtered way more people but those weren’t enough. The nukes coincided with a crippling blockade, an incipient land invasion, and most important of all Russia joining in.
Who the shit looked at that and thought “yeah that’ll push our product”?

World News@quokk.au•US attacks deepen hardship, not dissent, in Iran's restive south
7·1 day agoStrategic bombing has never been successful by itself in the history of warfare. In every single occurrence dropping bombs with the goal of murdering people and destroying their communities just pisses them off. This is always been true.
Giulio Douhet, its inventor, was a World War I Italian General. I don’t know if I need to say more than that to show you why it was a poor strategy.

World News@lemmy.ml•NYT: Pattern of Israeli sexual violence against Palestinians – soldiers, settlers, guards implicated
5·3 days agoOp your summary is wildly inaccurate. This is not the NY Times reporting on anything. This is an opinion piece. Now I’ll grant you it’s heartening that they allowed it to be published, though I suspect it was accompanied by or will soon be accompanied by either one or multiple horrific rebuttals because that’s their MO. However it’s not the same as reporting.

23·4 days agoSure and I would get that. Except then you went and made a meme about it. Which is kind of different isn’t it? That’s not responding to a person at the water cooler.

29·4 days agoIt’s really amazing how much time you “sportsball” people spend talking about how little sports intrest you. How much effort is dedicated to letting the rest of us know that you don’t enjoy something…
You would think you’d have better things to do

7·4 days agoMemories fade though. Looking through old photos can help keep them alive. Especially when you’ve lost someone. Believe me I know.
Old photos are something people don’t always realize are important and special until years later.

Late Stage Capitalism•According to Trump, it's disgusting how much influence China has had on US elections. We need to get rid of the problem
20·4 days agoIf we can somehow trick this idiot into creating some actually effective foreign interference election laws then I am all for it. I mean I have no faith in it happening whatsoever, but I hope I’m wrong.

Or just that monks made shitty historians in general.
