Not sure what you mean with the wafers hitting the market. I was only referring to the specific deal that OpenAI made with Samsung and SK hynix to purchase a metric boatload of 900,000 undiced DRAM silicon wafers per month.

Honestly I’m not sufficiently familiar with how that works to understand if any of that is consumer grade stuff.
But aren’t the wafers uncut? It could be used for anything if they’re just in storage.
OpenAI has a deal with Samsung and SK Hynix to purchase 900,000 DRAM wafers per month, or 40% of global DRAM output. These are just uncut wafers, accumulating in warehouses that serve two purposes:
- Prepares them for the distribution to data centers,
- Manipulates the supply chain to squeeze their competitors, who are left with slim pickings.
You and I are the victims of this until the bubble finally pops and the deal falls through.

2·9 days agoOn this flight, there were 182 souls on board. That means that for each case of attempted murder, he received less than 3 days in prison.
The Pan Am 103 bomber got less than 2 weeks for every person he murdered. We should set a precedent for minimum sentences for mass murder and, in this case, attempted mass murder, that brings justice for every victim.

Sooner or later, courts will need to establish the baseline for what is permitted within the letter of the law; likely it will be some middle ground, as opposed to a blanket prohibition of scraping copyrighted content for training models.

Aviation•Is Delta Air Lines Beginning the 'Enshitification' of International Business Class with New Basic Fares?English
2·1 month agoThey still do the upgrade bids, but be careful as your ticket restrictions will remain the same. For example, if you don’t have checked bags included in your economy class ticket, you won’t have any for the business class upgrade, either.
I would be in favor of the loss of a carry on bag if it meant tickets would be cheaper, but unfortunately the opposite is true.
