I’ll summarize it as followed:

• Ubumtu: one does not use Ubuntu any more
• Linux Mint: always a good start
• Fedora: also always good and would be good for a Thinkpad
• Bazzite for gaming
• Gnome really is not for everyone

Since I already tried Fedora, I’m going with Linux Mint for the moment.

(In fact, the installation of Mint is running right now and I’m using the whole SSD, no windows boot manager partition will survive!!!)

Since Mint is Ubuntu-based: do you know if Mint will have the same AI crap in the OS?

AI backed into the OS? No thanks, that’s really a reason to NOT go for Ubuntu. Edit: corrected typo

what made you decide to use Fedora and not Ubuntu. Or Linux Mint?

I’m not a big fan of Gnome on Fedora either. Everything is just so big and needs so much space. CachyOS is a tad to new for my taste for using it as a daily driver.

unfortunately, I’ve already watched the series. I was not aware that the story originated from a book (well, books). Is this a problem? Do the books have substantially more story than the serie?

OMW is just very easy to read (because Scalzi writes easily and funny) and it has a lot of action in space. However, not all books are equal good. I think the first one was the best.

hmm, interesting. I’ve only heard that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is the only story where the movie is better than the book. Therefore, I’ve never considered to read it. Maybe I should give it a try nonetheless…

very very bad. I’m using an old PS5 (the thick one) with a CD drive. I do buy my games on the second hand market and I do share the CDs with friends.

If I can’t do that with the next gen PS, I will not buy it. as simple as that.

normal mode: I have setup the reverse proxy and I’m using a public DNS for selfhosted services. Everything works fine.

problem: My internet is down. Hence no public DNS. And now I’m not able to use my self hosted applications.

This is why I’d like to have a local resolution. Because I am now in the unfortunate need of a full failover 😅

I always use different ports and map it during port forwarding. I thought this is safe(er)…

Man durfte sogar Abstimmen (also nicht, wie in einer “richtigen” Abstimmung. Einfach im Internt). Da hat das Konzept K (stärkere Farben) gewonnen. Die wären viel schöner gewesen!!
