  • There’s a difference between “anyone might lie” and “these people who have repeatedly lied to me in the past at every opportunity are definitely lying to me again”

Are you trying to say you didn’t think apple had been caught lying? I don’t think I have the energy to actually go and find an the class actions they’ve lost, but I’ve gotten money from them like 8 times already over them.

I didn’t say Google was better, I DEFINITELY didn’t say meta was better. I just said apple isn’t trustworthy. And here we are, with you trying to defend them WEEKS later. Why?

  • Ok, so you hate the fascist enforcer, but think for a second. When you’re in an airport, you’re stuck with them. Pissing them off is like poking an angry dog that’s harassing your neighborhood, It’s only going to get people hurt. Anything short of removing the dog from the neighborhood is just going to make things worse.

If I’m going to have to suffer a jailer, I’d rather they be fat and happy and willing to let things slide than pissed off, in pain, and trying to take it out on me.

Sadly the building photographer role is just an intern or the planner themselves with a phone these days. Very few jobs hire actual photographers anymore.

Source: I’m a professional photographer that finds whatever work I can.

The closest I’ve found is a gig work thing that will pay like $20 for you to photograph billboards for an hour. Once or twice they offered like $80 to photograph a warehouse for a prospective client. Tried it a few times around the COVID era. Those years really sucked for me.

Other than that, there’s still some real estate work out there, but only for very expensive properties.

I mostly do weddings and events and such.

  • I don’t trust them. Point blank. I don’t trust that they do or don’t do what they claim. They have been caught in bald faced lies numerous times before.

I’m not saying Google is better, I’m just calling bullshit on their claim of privacy. I don’t believe for a second that they aren’t monetizing your data and just calling it some newspeak term they made up to weasel out of admitting it.

Why do you feel the need to defend them?

  • Yes because they’re sooooo transparent about how they handle you data. And they’ve NEVER lied before riiiiight?

It’s not that they’re fake for not being private enough, they’re fake because of their long history of dishonesty and deceptive marketing. Or would you like to ask them what “current competing hardware” means on their next press release chart?

Apple was a cult of personality run by a snake oil salesman until jobs died. Now it’s a shell of that, run by a board of investors. Why do people on communities like this, an ostensibly ant-capitalist community, still feel the need to defend them? It’s always so weird to me.

  • No, but I clearly didn’t say that. I just said you’re assigned the wrong reason for their actions. They didn’t do it because they were atheist. They targeted waaaaaay more people than religious groups. They did what China is doing now to the uyghurs. It’s clearly a terrible thing, you’re just trying to manufacture an atheist pogrom when this was your standard totalitarian cultural genocide.

The khmer* rouge didn’t kill people “in the name of atheism”. They were largely copying the Chinese “great leap forward” pushing to cultural unification through genocide of minority groups. Yes, many of those groups were religious minorities, but to say they killed them in the name of atheism is like saying that the soviets killed people because they hate freedom. It’s obscenely disingenuous and clearly said to push an agenda.

Yep, I definitely didn’t do that on purpose. You’re right.

I actually had a hard time reading their comment. Maybe it’s because I was just waking up, but it’s generally a good idea to at least read what you’ve typed once before hitting submit.

Edit: also you’re wrong. https://www.oed.com/dictionary/oughta_v?tl=true This word has been in use with this spelling since 1840. Language is fluid, Words are defined be how they are used, not the other way around.

  • What line work? It’s 3d. I also don’t think you were going for “vibrant” colors here necessarily.

Maybe if you tried again it would tell you that your exposure was good, but maybe adding a flash and some negative fill world really make it a really great photograph.
