An apt take away from looking at the whole healthcare system in America! It’s profits driven instead of care driven! I would hate to get seriously ill as it stands. There were several bills that the hospital forgave in the past in my case because it would actually put me in a far worse situation: Financially, medically, and mentally! Today, I’m not certain that kindness would be extended to me again.

when we have to rely on private companies to “pretty please don’t bankrupt me” for health care needs, we’re truly fucked.

I was a part of my local rotary club for a minute (local clubs for small business owners), and we had a guest speaker from the drumpf white house. It was at this forum she touted a new plan that would allow companies to get together, and pool their collective employees, so as to get a better bargain on health care from health insurance companies. I raised my hand and said “that’s fantastic, is there anything stopping every business in the area from doing this? We could potentially get everyone in the state, heck the nation, to pool together and IMAGINE the savings!” They ignored me.

You were ignored because the idea was too sensible, an administration nightmare (they’re paid to deal with shit like that though). There’s so much evidence that the system is failing everyone, politicians are dragging their feet with a long-term solution (due to health insurance lobbying). We’ve just got to keep fighting against the bullshit and make healthcare a better situation for all Americans. Small victories until a bigger win happens, even if it’s not in our lifetime; setting the foundation for a total victory is better than doing nothing.
