Part of the series’ problem is that the actually interesting ideological conflict between the Assassins and the Templars was put on hold to explore increasingly elaborate Isu junk after Desmond was killed off.
Yeah, I think they crammed “becuz aliens” in there a few games later to explain away all the magic.
