Do you know what happened? That “unbiased”, uber-neutral article couldn’t have been less informative if it tried

I’m inclined to believe the governor is in the wrong but was the roll out a failure or not?

The roll out is absolutely a failure, it’s been 3 years since legalization and there are more dispensaries in NYC than the rest of the state. If I want to buy weed legally I have to drive 2.5 hours to the Indian reservation because there are 0 dispensaries near me. When I lived in Washington they were EVERYWHERE in a short time. Also they made promises to locals on when they would be able to open and kept dicking them around until they couldn’t afford to wait any longer, people who mortgaged their homes to try to open a dispensary, admittedly it was a gamble but it would have worked out in nearly any other legal state.

In January, Hochul called the rollout of the legal market a “disaster” and ordered a 30-day review of the agency by the Office of General Services. Earlier this month, she released a report following the review that criticized the inexperienced leadership of the Office of Cannabis Management and pointed to inefficiencies in the licensing process, as well sparse service for applicants awaiting determinations on their licenses.

Seems to track. The rollout in Colorado was amazing, it was if overnight half the strip mall liquor stores turned into new dispensaries.

Thanks for the extra info. I was legit upset at the lack of context while reading the article

Why do you think some people supported him then? Were they just likely in NYC or something?

It really sucks how some states have done things. I wonder how/if rescheduling cannabis at the federal level will change things

You’re welcome. It very likely is a New York City vs State issue, the city got what they wanted out of the guy and to hell with the rest of us.
