Leaders rally behind Zelenskiy to make clear to Putin that, as in 1944, freedom in Europe is worth fighting for

Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron have marked the 80th anniversary of D-day with a rallying cry for support for Ukraine as Volodymyr Zelenskiy was embraced by western leaders in Normandy.

The US president used his address at the American commemorative event to send a message to Moscow that the US and its allies “will not bow down” and will “stand for freedom”.

“To surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators, is simply unthinkable,” Biden said in a speech at the American cemetery in Normandy. “If we were to do that, it means we’d be forgetting what happened here on these hallowed beaches.”

Will you be the first to sign up? Will you be the first boots to cross the border into Russia? Will you lay down your life when you see the mushroom cloud on the horizon? If you survive will you whole heartedly tell generations to come that you proudly ushered in a nuclear war because it was the “right” thing to do?

You say this like I have any reason to fear death. The problem with me being on the front lines, is I’m not fit enough to be on the front lines. But I’d absolutely fly a plane, and drop bombs if I knew how to fly a plane. Or drive a tank if I could. Or maybe be a sniper or some shit.

Either way, yes I would fight, and no I wouldn’t expect to survive…but I can take out 10 of them before they take me out.

So you advocate for a war in which you would be in a secondary, safer position. While others see the front line and die instant and terrible deaths. If you are the advocate for war, then you should be willing to be the meat shield for others.

I didn’t say I’m not willing. I said I’m not able. Go take a look at pilots survival rates before you say that a pilot is a safer position.

You put me on the front lines, I fall behind the group, hold the rest of the troops back, and best case scenario my troops shoot me dead before I kill a single enemy. Worst case scenario is I get captured instantly. You don’t put someone on the front lines who holds the troops back.

You put me in a position where I don’t have to physically move, and I just go on a killing spree.
