it’s the “letting it get even worse” in your reply that confuses me. if that description doesn’t include turning your entire government over to the le pen nazi party, then i can’t see it “getting worse” than that for macron to attempt to retain power for sanity and reason
I know what you mean, but momentum does matter in politics sometimes and calling an election and dealing with something directly looks better than being asked about why you haven’t done it for weeks on end and letting your opponents go on about how you’re scared.
Also, I’m not an expert in French politics by any means, but hasn’t Macron basically lost the ability to pass legislation? In that situation I can’t see how he could turn things around by carrying on.
Nah I dunno, Sunak had to call an election within the next few months, and economically this was the best time - just after a slight fall in inflation, which will only go back up again by the end of the summer.
With Marcon here, he’s in a pretty secure position, I don’t believe he needs to call an election within the next few months and he seems to only be doing it to have some sort of “round 2” that he blindly hopes he’ll win. That, to me, reminds me more of Cameron.
