I was surprised to see Eliza lose like that. If the intent was to have Aoi beat some sense into Felter, then why go through the extra step of having him beat Eliza first?
When Aoi was talking about losing, I am guessing that she was referring to Owen. I hope he shows up again in the story, I liked him.
I think it has to be something like that. It seemed like Eliza wasn’t upset or down about losing to Felter, and even seemed surprised at how well she did. Hopefully it will give her some more confidence going forward.

I thought about that too. My interpretation is that she had her battle in order to show her that tactics work even if your level as a mage is lower.
