minus-square@egretslinkEnglish6•5 months agoIt’s anglicized from Hebrew בַּיִת (house); there are a bunch of accepted ways to spell it, including “bet” and “bayt” as well.

Beth, Beit, Beis, all mean ‘home’ they probably changed it to be more inline with modern pronunciation/spelling, though I didn’t see anything to that effect.

It’s anglicized from Hebrew בַּיִת (house); there are a bunch of accepted ways to spell it, including “bet” and “bayt” as well.
They support gay rights and fine wine and spirits, we can forgive the spelling misteake.
