I can’t get into super metroid like I want. I go in, and I do the things, and I play the game, and then UH-OH! I’ve fallen down a pitt. The game is trying to teach you to wall jump…I didn’t figure it out when I was 10, and I tried again a few years ago. It didn’t matter. I still don’t get how to wall jump in that game. That’s as far as I get in that game.
I even spent 3 hours the one time, just trying to bomb my way out. It eventually worked. I got into ball form, and bombed my way up to the top. Still can’t wall jump.
Huh really? Just a directional movement and jump, though I can see it causing issues for others, I know I had similar trouble with NES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with an infamous gap you couldn’t jump across but could walk over.
The lack of Chrono Trigger in this thread is appaling.
Super Metroid Chrono Trigger Zelda: Link to the Past
Lot of honorable mentions but those three definitely take the nostalgia cake.

I know the exact jump you’re talking about. Our neighborhood was SHOOK the day we figured out you could just…not jump.
