The fact that i have actually heared similar to that regarding Carbon monoxide alarms should tell you something :/

This is btw a very very different thing, one is acute and visible, the other is abstract and “in the future” human psychology is great at fighting acute things… But not abstract things. And your simplification of this isn’t helpful either.

The school I went to got destroyed in a flood, people die in my city due to heat in summer. It is already acute, but people choose to ignore it. Eco systems are under immense pressure all around the world. This is not something in a far away future, it is happening right now.

Don’t tell that to me, im doing something about it, i can still say that the destructive “protest” isn’t helping at all and that it just doesn’t make things better or bring positive attention towards the topic. Its still counterproductive.

And it not being acute means you don’t see the building burn, even though we can statistically show that it is, this is basic psychology “we have floods every year” “yeah it was way hotter outside when i was a child” you get it.

Bro i know that lemmy is a pretty radical and disconnect bouble, there is no Karma, i don’t give a fuck about votes in general. I know im right and im going to tell you all that what you do isn’t helping, you won’t get me on your side without actual evidence that this destructive behavior is doing more good than harm regarding the issue.

Have you considered you aren’t the target of the actions they’re taking?

Have you considered that whatever they are doing is just not helping at all? They target nobody, the people supporting them are already aware, the politicians get more and more defensive and the people that aren’t aware just hate them more and more, not helping at all.

Their cause is constantly in the news every time they do this, I’d say they’re doing a hell of a good job.

They aren’t ‘bringing awareness to climate change’ they’re saying ‘stop dissociating and pay attention to this’ and it’s working.

Oh no, sad noises, the vile hater won’t support the only people trying to make a difference. May as well pack up, go home and wait for the world to end.

Shut up mate, you look stupid, you spell like a fool, and you’re honestly an example of everything that’s wrong with this world.

…you know over 1300 people died during a heat wave, like, a week ago, right? And that wildfires are tearing through he goddamn arctic circle right now? The fuck you think this isn’t acute. You just don’t see it yet because it’s affecting the global south, aka, the poorer, darker skinned countries. Asshole.

You are aware that this has nothing to do with my criticism of the destructive “protests” people in my country die from hear as well. Doesn’t make it less abstract than a burning building! Learn basic psychology!
