If you have spare rooms, and your ac unit is struggling or your billz be wildin, close your vents and doors for rooms you don’t use.

Also be sure to close blinds on rooms that are south facing

Isn’t that common sense? The closing doors and windows part

        Not closing windows, but blinds.

Closing doors only helps if you close the vents too.

And hey, there could be someone reading this thread who just moved into their first place, or moved to a hot climate for the first time.

Ah right, vents. I don’t have any. I don’t think anyone at where I live has vents in their houses ( actually, apartments)

And I just felt like it would be common sense to trap heat/cold.

Right but some folks might not think about how having open blinds can cause a lot of warming as sunlight pours through

Then this thread isn’t for you because it doesn’t get hot where you live.

No sane person would live in a home without a central HVAC in an area that gets real heat. Swamp coolers and those portable window A/Cs just can’t keep up.

it doesn’t get hot where you live.

23.5°N, subtropical, average summer air temperature 32°C

32°C is not hot, no matter the humidity.

Come talk to me when it’s 45°+ with 35-45%RH for three months straight.

High humidity is worse, and it’s for at least 6 months

Ok this is getting pointless. I’m just stating that I use air conditioner, and Hong Kong is so fking small the median apartment size is like 430 sqft. Most households don’t need and can’t afford a vent.

Also put foil-backed insulation over any single-paned windows you don’t use. Or do what I did and cover only half the window if you still use the room occasionally.

And if you have an HOA that bans this, placing the insulation behind the blinds instead of directly on the window will do the trick and make it difficult to see what you did, especially if you keep the blinds closed or only open them partially and angled downward.
