This goes beyond rich people philanthropy; it extends to schools and classrooms, where each year not only are we given a list of items to get for our kid, there are items the teachers need (like printer paper, glue, etc) too. The throughout the year there are fundraisers, boosterthons, and fun-runs all so the school can afford updating and fixing the building or providing needed equipment for the staff. Then of course, our current healthcare system (the one at gofundme.com) that relies on donations from the community to see whether or not people can get much needed healthcare services…
