I don’t really want to, but it doesn’t have any mods currently.

I have some expertise with spiders and would rather stick to doing just IDs, but since there is no mod maybe it’s good to have a contingency plan in case some spam turns up … or to delete the classic “it’s a brown recluse” comment … when it’s any brown spider.

But I’m happy to concede to anyone else that actually wants to be a mod.

The comment was sufficently downvoted. But that doesn’t apply to everyone. Some UI’s or even instances don’t even have downvotes.

So should you remove these comments anyway or post a correction? See … that’s why I don’t want to be a mod.

I think I memed myself into a corner and can’t keep up.

        “Not a brown recluse.”

I swear allegience to though. (unless it is a brown recluse).

That was my post; I appreciate your efforts.

I can recognize pholcidae and salticidae by shape, and the big female widows, and the one Olios Giganteus who comes thundering around the house every year, but beyond that I’m more of a “I just want to cram the Nikon in the corner and fill up the storage card” type of arachnology enthusiast. ::::)

Typically posting a correction is enough. You can also warn the user, something like this:

[Speaking as a mod] When joking or memeing, please say so in the post/comment of the joke/meme. I get that it spoils the fun, but it’s better than getting someone hurt - brown recluses are spiders of medical significance after all.

Most users are surprisingly reasonable if the mod is reasonable with them.
