NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday that Turkey has agreed to back Sweden’s bid to join the military alliance – a major development on the eve of the NATO summit.
Have you spent much time in Türkiye? The cities of the west really aren’t that different to eastern Europe. Yes, Erdogan does some shit things, lqrgely because pandering to the Islamic hardliners guarantees he’ll stay in power. But let’s not pretend leaders of Christian-majority nations don’t do exactly the same thing. If the people of Türkiye elected a new leader who had the same values as Ataturk, I think you would very quickly find a nation that would be a worth addition to the EU.
In Germany they don’t mix well at all. Don’t see a reason why it should be different in other parts of Europe. Sweden for example is also having serious political turmoils due to muslim immigrants and the huge cultural differences they bring.
I really doubt Turkey would mix well with EU values, both on political and cultural level.
