I know this counter intuitive, but had I gotten a phd, I would just be more knowledgeable about engineering not more informed on how the government and finances work. These can be correlated, but I think you data more indicates that liberals attend more college.
With this kind of thinking then any degree can be semi-related, which its fine to have more formal education but its not directly helpful. The issue I am referring to is that eudcation is not directly make you informed about things like how the monetary system works or history.

You have to go out of your way to be specilized in something like cybernetics, its a very paticular specialty.
