Trans women are killed way more, to the point of systemic harm. As a trans guy, I don’t mind this conflation at all because it’s unfortunately so obvious that trans women are the primary victims of trans violence.
It’s drawing on an existing word “femicide” - which already has political and historical context and is pretty well-known and adding the trans dimension. And just because the most intense violence is mostly directed at trans women, doesn’t mean it’s not a manifestation of a broader transphobia that effects all trans people and not just trans women.
