Any thoughts on the new source link style, having the source named instead of the creator’s name as the link text?
I prefer the creators name, but that’s just my $0.02
I think I like the name linked, does that make it harder to copy/paste the text? When I see the source link like that, it looks like it’s going to take me to facebookdotcom and I don’t want to go there. It’s an extra thought I don’t trust myself to have: that it would be the creators page. But I also like the warning that I’m going to fb, so interested in your reasons for playing with the credits? Lemmy people wanting warnings before going to zuckerf*cks sites?
That was the main reasoning. I haven’t gotten many complaints, but it has been brought up before.
Linking the names is quicker for me, but I didn’t know if you guys would find value in having the site listed so you know if you want to click or not. Lemmy has always seemed privacy focused, and I’ve felt that increasingly so lately look at posts and comments in All.
Fwiw in voyager the links are usually printed below the post so it’s easy to see it’s a fb site.
Now to convince the world’s owl photographers to revive GeoCities.
Ah, this is true. The apps should have a good handle on this by now. Summit gives me a popup and shows the link.
I will always have a soft spot for the Geocities days… The web may have been crap, but it was largely our crap. Little did we know what Web 2.0 had in store for us. We were so innocent back then.
