Nigeria fined Meta Platforms $220 million, its competition watchdog said on Friday, after investigations showed data-sharing on social platforms violated local consumer, data protection and privacy laws.

    But is it enforceable?

There’s no way they make enough from Nigeria to warrant paying that fine. They’ll just threaten to close shop there and the government will just drop the fine.

Drop the fine after …donating(?)… To an official in charge of dropping the fine.

True. Although it’s Facebook. They could just tweak the algo in favor of the opposition candidate.

                No they don’t

They pray on children but it wouldn’t make sense for them to try to create a dictatorship. It is much more effective to just tell the people what to believe and who to vote for.
