  • A series of fires has hit French high-speed rail lines, hours before the Paris Olympics opening ceremony
  • Rail company SNCF says it’s a “massive attack aimed at paralysing the network”; France’s transport minister condemns the “co-ordinated malicious acts”
  • Some 800,000 customers will be affected with disruption expected all weekend, the rail firm says
  • Eurostar tells customers to postpone trips if they can, as it faces ongoing disruption

    Not a bunch of dickheads grabbing a random map, the attacks were on specific instruments that you have to know where they are, how to access them, and what to do with them (okay I guess “toss a burning rag in it” is enough for that one). And that was in towns / places that were across half of the country or something (I think there were attacks West of Paris, then halfway to the North, and one halfway to the South that was thwarted). So likely an inside job / from someone who has worked on those things before. Obviously the actual people who did it could be any random paid homeless guy, but the map was provided by someone who is or has worked on that system, that’s the point.
