minus-square@cm0002link4•6 months agoThat’s not backwards compatibility, what you described is forwards compatibility (Which is a thing, but not very common) Backwards compatibility is meaning that anything built to support JPEG XL will be able to render “classic” JPEG just fine without any extra effort
