Presumably a feature of Cloudflare. Cloudflare is all about security, right? Onion is all about subverting security in various ways, as I understand it–so maybe that’s why Cloudflare blocks it.
My guess is this has nothing to do with perchance.
Maybe not, but Cloudflare blocks sites when the site itself wants to be blocked to protect it. I can access the Times and other sites just fine on Tor network. In other words, Perchance is protecting itself from online attacks by utilizing Cloudflare to block all access via Onion. That’s fine, I just didn’t know if the protection was deliberately configured this way to defeat onion-style anonymity or if it was a broad-brush security approach that also swept up Onion. IOW, is there some reason perchance does not want us being using onion to be anonymous on the site? EDIT: Thanks for your reply!
I think it may have been swept up when I was trying to stop comment plugin spam. I was dealing with a DDoS at one point but IIRC that was not Tor-related. I’ve made an edit to the firewall rules now so Tor blocking should be targeted to just comment plugin message-sending requests. Thanks!
