the State Objection Panel, composed of one Democratic and two Republican elected officials, ruled 2-1 that the Libertarian candidates should be removed from the ballot on a technicality.

To say that I’m no fan of right-libertarian politics would be the understatement of the year, but this is antidemocratic bullshit.

The rule broken was announcing their candidates a single day too early ffs!

      but this is antidemocratic bullshit.

I’m torn. On the one hand, I definitely think it’s anti-democratic. On the other hand, meh, rules are rules and once you let one slide, then things keep sliding.

That’s the most textbook slippery slope fallacy I’ve seen this year!

Do you know WHY they broke the rule? Because as a small party, they can’t afford to hold separate caucus and convention events on separate days and still be competitive in ad buys and everything else they need to spend on against the two rich parties.

The rich parties KNOW this. It’s exactly why the rule exists: to enforce the status quo of only Dems and the GOP having a realistic chance of winning anything.

So yeah, it’s antidemocratic bullshit from top to bottom.

          100 percent correct!

Brother, I’m with you in spirit, as I’m actually voting Socialist Workers Party this year.

I totally support any party that’s trying to break up the corrupt Duopoly. Third parties need to keep pushing and keep fighting to change the status quo!

Voting third party is useless until we get rid of First Past the Post. It sucks, but it’s the truth.

But neither the Republicans nor the Democrats in office are interested in making that change happen. So…

Soooo… voting 3rd party is useless.

Not for me, because I’m voting for the candidate I want to vote for. As is my right.
