Sure, but you still get a ton of annoying pop ups asking you to re-enable it. If it doesn’t just do it without consulting you.

At least, that’s been my experience on various Samsung phones…

Weird, I’ve been using my S10e since release, turned off most Assistant stuff and have seen neither the Assistant nor any suggestions to use it. Is that a regional thing?

S10e has a dedicated Bixby button right next to volume down though and it’s quite difficult to reprogram it, if you don’t use Bixby.

Maybe regional, maybe a problem introduced later than the s10 🤷

Yeah, if it was supported on other devices than a Google Phone, I’d probably love it (yes I know, it’s due to hardware that apparently no other manufacturer uses, but still it annoys me. A Fairphone with Graphene is my wet dream).

I’ve moved to DivestOS, a fork of Lineage. A bit more restrictive to Google stuff - can run MicroG/GServices isolated.

Not for every phone. I’d love to get a fairphone, but those are getting more and more expensive. I can’t afford those. Phones are BS nowadays

        That’s true, unfortunately.

Btw, if you’re into FP for sustainability reasons, maybe you want to look at Teracube

You got a favorite? I’ve been shopping but degoogled non-apple phones seems to be a narrow region with many obstacles for the uninitiated.

I use graphene os and its great and fairly easy to install. Only works on Pixel devices though so you would have to get one of those.

LineageOS supports the most devices, GrapheneOS is the absolute best if you’re looking for privacy and security and have a Pixel Phone. You can buy Fairphones and Teracube with /e/OS preinstalled if you’re insecure about flashing your phone yourself.

I think lineage is probably the one, although that one doesn’t seem completely de-googled? I see some people talking about a version that is but something about signature spoofing and thats a security problem… I’m not sure what to make of it. I don’t want to do graphene because it just seems hypocritical to buy a google phone when I’m trying to stop giving google money and my data.

Fairphones look good if I can get one - I wonder if there’s a way to get the new one shipped to the US. I think my only hang up there is the lack of a wireless charger. I can get past that but I have a number of wireless chargers in my house and cars that I do enjoy. Weird that it doesn’t have it, and weird to realize it’s become an important feature for me.

I’m not sure tbh, I’m not using Lineage myself. I tried it on a VM once and there was Google stuff all over it, so I asked online and Lineage users told me it was a weird VM image and their phones were degoogled.

Uff, I almost already thought I were the only one thinking this way xD It’s my issue with Graphene, too, and I wish FP would make a phone in collaboration with Graphene so I could have both lol

I can see wireless charging can be a nice commodity, but FP gives a reason, it’s not weird and it’s the same reason I personally stay away from wireless charging phones in general: it’s an utter waste of energy. Wireless charging needs around 50% more power compared to regular USB-C-charging and for a company that’s focused on reducing waste and being sustainable where possible, I guess it’s an easy way.
