I have a deep appreciation for Marx, as should anyone interested in sociology or political economy who isn’t married to ‘The freer the market the freer the people!’ style dreck. I don’t know that I would call myself a Marxist.
A comment I picked up a while back that made a lot of sense: nobody accepts Marx without at least some qualification. You might take it as a starting point, but make modifications. Some more than others. Or you might reject it entirely. But nobody takes it as is.
Marxists aren’t bad. I mean, a little on the sesquipedalian side, but generally in the right place. MLs, though? Just fascists.
