Eh. I’m voting for Trump but certain people around him (like Laura Loomer) might literally have me voting for Kamala if they were to replace him.

Mostly the economy (specifically tax cuts and support for domestic oil and gas production), border security, national security and foreign affairs.

Because you want him to screw all those up again? I don’t get it.

Every single item on the list has improved under Biden, and literally were made worse under Trump.

I really can’t follow the “logic” of your reply.

Didn’t trump have IRS withholding changed to lower the amount going to taxes each paycheck? So the idiots saw an immediate “increase” in their paychecks thinking they got a tax break?

Yes and I dealt with those who saw their paychecks had$0 federal tax withheld. They did not prepare the IRS for this. We basically had to tell them there were changes to the w4 and to review it with their employer.

It’s fine that oil and gas production are higher now, I’m sure Trump will take that number even higher.

What I’d like to see when it comes to illegal immigration isn’t exactly more arrests, but a stronger border that’s harder to get through in the first place. And perhaps some deportations as well, although I tepidly prefer some qualified form of amnesty to deporting every single illegal immigrant.

I saw an interesting stat today that relates to this.

I’m in the EU, and this year for the first time my country spent more money buying Chinese solar panels than it did buying gas from the US, which has traditionally been a big national expense.

Putting it another way: the Chinese are selling us fishing poles, while Trump wants to keep selling us fish. Sure, we’ll keep buying fish for a while yet, but not for much longer.

I’m not even considering the climate and all that. It’s just a better economic investment.

But sure, you pump up those barrel numbers as high as you can, up until it comes crashing straight into the ground.

As for immigration, sure whatever. Kick out all the immigrants, but be honest and let me know how many people do you personally know that want to spend their life working the fields all day, or spend days at a time out at sea on a trawler, or mowing lawns for pennies on the dollar.

Because as a dev, I really enjoy my air conditioning and nice comfy office, and probably make more money than half a dozen of those pesky useless freeloaders combined, so you won’t be seeing me doing those jobs anytime soon.

We produce more light sweet crude from our oil fields while our refineries are set up to handle more heavy stuff from place like Mexico and Canada. Anyway I believe the bigger issue is refining not raw oil production? Why don’t you mention that? Or do you just care about how much black stuff we pull out of the ground?

Then why wasn’t oil production higher under Trump? He had 4 years.

As to border, the higher arrest list is proof the border is harder to get through now than it was under Trump. Illegal immigrants are being stopped.

As to negotiating, after 4 years why was Putin still in Ukraine? He did nothing. North Korea didn’t change policy at all. https://www.reuters.com/article/world/timeline-threats-and-stalemate-one-year-after-trump-last-met-north-koreas-kim-idUSKBN23X09P/

For national security, a lot of it is securing the southern border. It does have some ties to foreign affairs, part of that is Trump’s (relative) strength as a negotiator with world powers. He doesn’t get everything he wants all the time, but he is feared to a degree by many leaders, which is important when some of those leaders are our enemies, and he understands how to use leverage in circumstances such as negotiating the release of American hostages from foreign soil. I will say that Trump isn’t as good at negotiating as I would like, but at least he has a positive track record on that front, whereas Kamala Harris can’t even negotiate the support of the Teamsters lol

If Trump actually cared about securing the border, why did he call Republicans in congress to vote against the border bill that they wrote? Biden was willing to sign it into law until they killed their own bill.

Because it hard arbitrary provisions that would have essentially allowed Joe Biden to pause the border restrictions at his discretion. The assumption was that he would sign the “we fixed the border” bill, then pause restrictions, and act like he did something, and the Republicans weren’t willing to give him that optic W.

If you look at the kind and number of documents, and each parties reaction, this is very much a false equivalency. Biden’s documents case is more like Pence’s, while Trump’s is a whole different animal.

I’m sorry, you think that Trump is feared by America’s enemies? My friend, your enemies are the people he spent the most time cosying up to. He openly admires Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin for being autocratic dictators. He pals around with Saudi princes. On the other hand he almost irreparably damaged US relations with its closest allies. The world is only “scared” of Trump in the sense that they’re scared of how damage his constant blundering will cause on the world stage.

Also, how is the southern border in any way relevant to national security? Mexico is your ally. Do you think that the cartels are preparing to invade Texas?

Trump’s (relative) strength as a negotiator

              -Before the debate-

Trump’s campaign: Harris is going to try to bait you during the debate, don’t fall for it.

Harris’ campaign: we are going to bait Trump during the debate and he is going to fall for it.

Everyone: Harris is going to bait Trump.

              -At the debate-

Trump: OMG LOOK AT ALL THIS BAIT! NOMNOMNOM!

Someone that predictable and easily manipulated is your “strong negotiator”?

Look, folks, a temporarily embarrassed billionaire. They’re the only people that benefit economically from Trump’s policies. Check your 2016 taxes paid divided by income and your 2023 taxes paid divided by income. The reason you paid more taxes in 2024 is Trump’s tax reform. Did you get more for your tax dollars now? I don’t feel like I did.

Vote libertarian until they finally kick the trash out, sending a message matters more than anything else.

I have great respect for libertarianism, but it’s a little too extreme for me. There need to be federal institutions at some scale (even if they should be minimized, like Trump I too am a Federalist)
