- Replaced the recent soul duplication hotfix with new behavior. Pre 10 min, lanes now always split orbs when there are more heroes than the assigned participants for that lane (3+ people in a dual lane, 2+ people in a solo). Previously it only split with 3+ people regardless of the lane, which is what allowed soul abuses when dipping into a solo lane.
- Private lobbies can now assign players to duo and solo lanes
- Fixed some recent bugs with Vindicta Flight that could cause some large bursts in a direction
- Fixed being able to shoot while using Ethereal Shift and flying with Vindicta
- Veil Walker: Fire Rate reduced from 30% to 20%
It’s weird how fun it is.
It’s a playtest because while the game is very far along, it’s not even close to done.
The map is largely WIP. The bases are basically test boxes with textures. A few updates ago the jump-pads were just a glowing thing that made you fly, and the ropes were all done using them because they didn’t exist yet.
A lot of the heroes are carry-overs from Neon Prime. Warden, Yamato, Bebop, are all at least partially their old sci-fi designs (Yamato is a literal alien) and will receive COMPLETE visual replacements at some point.
Some item icons are placeholders, with several items using the same icons. Some items just got added in the last big update.
And mechanics are still being developed. Vindictas flight ability received very significant changes in the last big update. Dashes can now be used while flying, without interrupting the ability.
I’m sure there’s more, and will be even more.
I used to play TF2 every day pretty much, i loved the shit out of the game from release until 2016 ish. When i heard about their new shooter with a kind of similar art style, i was super hyped. I didn’t pay much attention to it, because i didn’t really want to play the alpha or even beta. When i saw that it’s a moba, my excitement was gone, i wasn’t mad or anything, i just realised it wasn’t for me, and i was happy for all the people who are into mobas. I got an invite this sunday and i already played for like 15 hours. It is WEIRD how fun it is. The character design is AWESOME. Even after only playing for a few hours i already knew almost all the outlines of the characters. They are seriously cooking with this one
I know, right?
Like… I just keep wanting to play.
Like everything is just… fun. I’ve gotten somewhat jaded with games over the years, even as I continue to enjoy gaming almost daily.
But Deadlock has completely busted through the door of my heart. I adore it.
What’s up with Warden? His design looks the part, retro-looking cop, nothing sci-fi at all.
Bebop, McGinnis, Yamato, Kelvin do look off though, like they’re not really on the 1920s
From what i understand they pivoted the art style at some point. It used to be futuristic/cyberpunky. But then they shifted to something mystical. I really have to say i like it. I think the mix and design is sick.
I’m sucker for sci-fi, but this world where magic and futuristic machinery, likely even powered by magic, are mixing is fantastic.
And pure sci-fi is somewhat satured atm, especially among hero shooter. So the new setting is a very welcome.
McGinnis’s tech is apprently powered by souls, so she might actually be as intended, and her backstory seems to involve some giant magic tech corporation.
Yamato has obviously had some changes to make her fit, like her sword and armor. But it’s all intermediary, still.
Warden was also already redesigned for Deadlock from Neon Prime, hence why he “fits in”, but his current appearance is still primarily based around his backstory and charachter from Neon Prime.
But he’s getting a new backstory and design for Deadlock, he will eventually be an alchemist vigilante (hence his kit, like alchemical flask).
Other charachters already have voice-lines that refer to his planned final look.
