What do you all think?

I like it, but the pocket watch is at the border of too much. I’m reminded of the advice “get fully dressed, and then take one accessory off”.

If you are going to an event that justifies it though (occult, horology, etc.), then it works.

Not gonna lie, that makes it a little worse. The best part about being eccentric is having it suit your life. I’m calling it now, nobody needs a cellphone chain.

I don’t know. It’s saved my phone from falling several times. I guess it’s not for everyone tho.

Maybe I’m just charging at windmills, but this is what I see:

            1. The weight of a phone will risk ripping the hole or removing the button when it falls.

            2. The length of chain makes it impossible to hold your phone out for a selfie.

            3. You can’t hand your phone off to anyone else to look at something.

            4. You create a WTF moment every time you pull your phone out.

Most importantly, there is a cheap, ubiquitous, and reliable solution that fixes all of these problems—the trusty cellphone case.

Watch chains used with a watch will protect the fragile watch without risking your vest, allows the watch to be held at the correct distance for use, and visibly suggest that you have the time.

At the end of the day, you do you, but choosing quirky accessories that are worse tools for the purpose you are choosing to use them for is the number one reason that people get called out for trying too hard in fashion.

              I will be your giant:

              1. Hasn’t been an issue (yet)
              2. Just tried it and while I can take a selfie, it does limit how much of the background I can capture, so sometimes I’ll have to unhook it.
              3. Yeah, I have to unhook it, that’s fair. Not hard to do, but an extra step.
              4. These have only been positive so far.

I have a phone case, but I’m also paranoid.

Honestly, it’s born out of a philosophical idea that smartphones are the modern day equivalent of pocket watches: a device we carry with us to stay in sync with the rest of the world. (Worth noting I don’t own a smart watch.) So your points are mostly valid, but it’s my special kind of crazy.
