As a German, I can tell you its 2/3 because current evs are too expensive. Making Chinese evs more expensive via taxation will only lead to the 2/3 not buying an ev at all. But the good thing is the EU will force car makers to not produce individual combustion engine vehicles so the less wealthy are forced to use public transport, which is not suited for so many people and this is all drifting towards major issues. I’ll probably keep driving my ice til it erodes into dust.
