The world has a lot of different standards for a lot of things, but I have never heard of a place with the default screw thread direction being opposite.
So does each language have a fun mnemonic?

You’re 100% correct, but you won’t convince him; he seems to think “right” means the same thing as “clockwise.” It’s like people who think East is always to the right. It’s nuts.
