While I agree that China is our biggest actual threat in the world outside of a smaller rogue nation starting to lob nukes everywhere, China doesn’t have a great track record with trying to take on any Western powers for centuries now. Even when they tried to take on the west allied Japan it didn’t go so hot for them.
