Folks who want to view the video using a third party client could always just copy and paste the link, so I don’t see any problem

I have automatic redirect (with the LibRedirect-plugin in Firefox) of any YouTube-links so that they open in Freetube. Set up on my phone as well, and it works nicely.
I do the same, its super sick, except that it still leaves an empty gray tab
